Star Lord
Series: Guardians of the Galaxy
Character: Female Star-Lord! (Genderbend) Debuted At: ALA 15 Details: This costume is sponsored by Costume Supercenter! Costume Supercenter was kind enough to sponsor our cosplay endeavors, and offered to help us build some Guardians of the Galaxy costumes. We took on the offer not only because we love these characters, but to help show beginners interested in cosplay how easy it can be regardless of sewing/prop skills! There are many ways to cosplay, and you don't always have to be a whiz at patterns and fabric. Making cosplays from altered clothes or altered Halloween costumes is still viable, and often times can look just as great! Star Lord's costume from Costume Supercenter came with a thin detailed jacket with the shoulder and bracer armor, his chest belt, mask and guns. Unfortunately, the mask was a bit big on me, but everything else worked great! I used their jacket to place on another red leather jacket I got from a thrift store, to make the jacket more realistic. I detached the foam armor, gave it a more detailed finish, and reattached them to the leather jacket. I bought a leather satchel from the thrift store too, and attached the chest strap to it. I made new buckles for everything with a bit of craft foam and spay paint. The pants, shirt and boots were all bought at the thrift store! The headphones were bought and altered and the guns from Costume Supercenter were painted with a more realistic finish! Below, you can see the before and afters of each piece! It was a great chance to show how easy cosplaying can be. No sewing was used in this costume! |
